SALE Chamber Orchestra’s season finale on June 24 - part of Sale Festival - will feature dynamic young cellist Otis Enokido-Lineham’s first full concerto performance.

Otis will direct Boccherini’s Cello Concerto no 3 from the cello and conduct the orchestra for the remainder of the concert, extending SCO’s string orchestra repertoire to include Mendelssohn String Symphony Number 10, Tippett’s Little Music for Strings and the joyous Gloria by Vivaldi with guest choir and solo singers.

It takes place at St Paul’s Church, Springfield Road, Sale at 7.30pm on June 24.

Guest conductor Otis is completing his second year as an undergraduate at Royal Northern College of Music and is very excited to be working with Sale Chamber Orchestra, who have established a reputation for providing opportunities for talented young musicians and composers.

Both he and the players alike have enjoyed the experience of working in partnership which is characterised by Otis’s knowledgeable and high energy approach to rehearsing and playing. Otis comments: “It has been a pleasure to conduct and play in such a varied programme of music as well as getting to know orchestra members during weekly rehearsals. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.”

As usual SCO is running the ‘Front 10’ VIP scheme for children. Orchestra secretary Ruth Ilgunas describes the experience we offer our youngest audience members: “VIPs sit up at the front so they get a really good view of all the action. We give our VIPs special programme notes and a free badge and they get to meet the conductor and soloists during the interval. You will also meet Minim Mouse and can even buy a copy of a book all about Minim listening to the orchestra play every week. You just need to bring a paying adult with you, who will sit in the row behind you.”

Tickets available on the door: £10 (£8 concession; accompanied children free) or in advance from Jan Archer Tel: 0161 973 8193 or email treasurer@salechamberorchestra.co.uk
