SALE Nomads latest production, Feelgood, is a comedy about political spin.

Written by Alistair Beaton at the height of New Labour, it is set at a party conference on the eve of the Prime Minister’s speech. His speech writer and press secretary are desperately working on it.

When a scandal breaks out that could affect the party’s whole future, they try to stop it, coming out unscathed.

Director, David Black, said: “It coincides with the publication of Damien McBride’s book and the recent Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.

“We wondered what a real life politician might think of this amusing play so invited Councillor Rob Chilton to a rehearsal.”

Cllr Chilton said: “They already knew their lines and the humour came out.

“People who are in politics would recognise themselves and people who are not would say ‘Is this really going on?’

“ Terry Hollinshead, the guy who played the Labour peer, George, was good. He was one of those people who don’t get elected and just say what they think. He makes a mess of everything. He was a scream - very good.

“The only time we see the PM - Billy Jellyman - is when he makes his speech and that works well.

“The main protagonist (Peter Nawn) is undone by his own machinations.

“I would recommend it to my fellow politicians from all parties.”

David said: “I wanted to leave the audience wondering if anything had changed.”

* Feelgood is at the Club House, Friars Road, Sale from October 30 – November 2 at 7.30pm. Anyone interested in booking tickets should 0161 969 5140.
