OULTON Park will be awash with red as 250 Father Christmases line up to take part in the inaugural St Luke’s Santa Dash.

The hospice is calling on men, women and children to get on their festive feet to take part in a 5k dash or a 10k stroll to raise vital funds.

Event organiser Jane Thompson said: “We’re hoping to raise enough money at the Santa Dash to cover hospice care over the Christmas holiday period.

“We need to raise £5,600 each day to look after our patients and their loved ones and we are still hoping to get some more Santas signed up to add to our fundraising total.

“Lots of people in our community have a love and understanding of the work done at St Luke’s and we are grateful for their continued support during the difficult economic climate.”

There are still spaces available for the Santa Dash.

Entry is £15 per adult and £10 per child for those aged between eight and 16. The under 8s can take part for free and the registration fee includes a full Santa suit, a medal and refreshments.

Non-runners are welcome to attend Oulton Park to support the Santas. Jane added: “We’ve got lots going on during the day, including refreshments for sale and opportunities for children to meet Father Christmas.

“Christmas trees, decorations, puddings, gifts and cards will also be available with all money raised directly benefiting the hospice.”

Spectators can arrive from 10am with the races beginning at 11am.
