The organiser of the Hale 10K said this edition of the event is set to be the biggest since it started in 2022.

The race returns to the village and its surroundings on February 18 following the success of its first two years.

Starting on South Downs Road, the route makes its way around Altrincham Grammar School for Boys and onto Ashley Road, before making its way over the railway line and out into the countryside. It ends outside Ashley Hall.

Its organiser Mark Durston, the managing director of Sensation Group, said this edition of the event is set to be the biggest since it started with the entries looking likely to sell out shortly.

Mr Durston said: "The North West is home to some of the world's best sports teams and sports venues. With the Hale 10K we are bringing something new to the calendar with an inclusive, family friendly and challenging event.

"As a keen runner I have first-hand knowledge of the area and I have run the course many times. I believe it provides the ideal 10K route to enjoy the best of the stunning villages of Hale and Ashley, combined with a superb shorter 3K route at Ashley Hall, which is a fantastic family day out."

As an incentive to take on the 10K, there is cash to be won, as well as prizes for first, second, and third, plus the male winner and the female winner across a number of age categories.

All runners receive a medal and, if the event is too much, there is a 3K around Ashley Hall on the same day.

Peter Waterson, the managing director of sponsors Watersons, said: "I am proud Watersons has served the people of Hale, Altrincham and the surrounding areas for over 20 years. Having lived in the village all my life and as a regular Altrincham & District Athletic Club runner I have wanted to be able to do something for my community and as such the Hale 10K was right up my street.

"We jumped at the chance to get involved for the first race and after its great successes each year we didn’t hesitate to continue our support as headline sponsor again for a third year."

The race returns on February 18.
