A replacement for Sale Foodhall is confirmed alongside another two arrivals to Stanley Square.

Canteena Bar & Grill is set to take over the site of the food hall, which closed on April 2 after around 18 months in business.

The restaurant specialises in steak, but there is a range of vegetarian options and vegan options.

It is owned by Danielle Condron and Lisa Kettle, who once owned popular pub The Bridge on Dane Road.

In a statement, Ms Condron and Ms Kettle said: "We love Sale and its community and wanted to make sure everyone can enjoy the incredible food and the cosy, contemporary feel at Canteena.

"We have worked hard to cover every price range when it comes to the menu. We want to be Sale’s home away from home when it comes to sharing food and drink with the people closest to you."

Also arriving at Stanley Square is Oyster Catcher, which has a restaurant in Chorlton already. Then there is Pray Tell, which is set to serve a range of beers, cocktails, wines and spirits.

Oyster Catcher is owned by Duncan Ranyard and Recep Canliisik, who 'jumped at the chance' for a restaurant in Sale as well.

Mr Ranyard said: "Our restaurant in Chorlton proved popular over the last five years, with lots of guests travelling from Sale and from further afield to dine with us.

"We loved sharing our offering with the people of Chorlton and when we were asked to become part of the development in Stanley Square we jumped at the chance."

The destination in the town centre is seen as one reason why Sale replaced Altrincham in the Best Places To Live list published by the Sunday Times earlier this year.

Mark Rebbeck from Altered Space, the developer behind the development, said: "We are pleased to see so many new and vibrant businesses open their doors in Sale. We always saw the potential of this town centre, and it's great to see others now share this outlook with us."
