How to view the Messenger on your mobile phone

What is the Messenger mobile?

Mobile screen Messenger mobile is a pocket-sized version of the Messenger Newspapers site on your mobile phone.

Check out the latest news, sport, entertainment, traffic & travel and weather reports while you're on the move. We've added national news updates too.

How can I get the the Messenger on my mobile phone?

There are three ways to get the the Messenger on your mobile:

  1. Go to your internet browser on your mobile phone and type in http://mobile.messengernewspapers.co.uk. Note that you don't need the usual www prefix.

  2. OR

  3. Text the words messenger mobile to 80360 and we'll send you a free message back straight away with a link in it.

All phones are different, but most phones will open the link if you select options and then either open link or use detail / web address which will take you to the Bolton News mobile website*
To store the site’s address on your phone simply select options and ‘bookmark’ the page. That way you’ll never need to remember the address.

  4. OR

  5. If you have a phone that can read barcodes sometimes called QR (Quick Response codes), select the barcode reader application and point your phone at the graphic below.

This feature can be found on many suitably-equipped phones within tools or applications.

Again, to store the site’s address on your phone simply bookmark the link and you’ll never need to remember the address.

Does it matter what mobile phone I have?

As long as you have an internet-capable phone you should have no problems. We've tested our service on all the main makes and models and we think it looks pretty good.

I've got an iPhone/Blackberry will the mobile site work on that?

Yes, simply follow the instructions as above. The Messenger mobile site has been specifically designed to work on all current handsets. It's easier to navigate on the small-screen than normal websites and much faster.

How much will it cost?

There is no charge from us to access our mobile websites. However, you may be charged by your mobile operator if you’re not on an all-inclusive monthly package. Some tariffs are based upon the amount of data downloaded. Our mobile sites have been designed to transmit a minimal amount of data and carefully-sized smaller images rather than the full-size websites to keep your bandwidth use as low as possible.

So what do I get?

Messenger mobile brings you the most comprehensive local news stories as they happen, the latest sport, entertainment news and live traffic & travel reports – essential for your journey to and from work. Not forgetting the weather where you are plus a national news digest.

So what are you waiting for?

Get the Messenger on your mobile now by texting messenger mobile to 80360.

*Standard network charges apply to the link message and normal data network charges apply to access the site. By using this service you are agreeing to receive occasional SMS messages from Newsquest Group Companies informing you of promotions and events. You will not be charged for receiving these messages.
