TRAFFORD residents are finally to have their say on the Transport Innovation Fund bid, with the prospect of getting nearly £3 billion investment in our dilapidated transport infrastructure, but which will only be received if we vote YES and accept a limited peak-time only congestion charge.

Greater Manchester has one of the most congested, dangerous, intimidating and polluted road networks in Western Europe. Trafford Council admits that congestion will increase by 30 per cent in the next decade. If we vote NO then daily gridlock will become the norm. The streets will remain a hostile environment for our children, elderly, disabled, pedestrians and cyclists. The one third of households in Greater Manchester who do not own a car will continue to suffer an inadequate public transport system.
