AS committee members of Altrincham Interfaith Group, we are writing to express our deep sorrow on reading of the appalling desecration of headstones in Urmston Jewish Cemetery, and to convey our sympathy and support to members of the Jewish community who have been affected.
We are committed to working to improve interfaith relationships and to read of such mindless, cruel and insensitive actions only increases our determination to share love and compassion to all peoples and races.
It is uplifting, however, to see in the same issue of The Messenger, Jews and Muslims coming together in the South Manchester Synagogue to share a celebration meal marking the end of Ramadam.
This uplifting and inspirational article shows the way forward — hate and bigotry have no place in our society.
