IT is heartbreaking to see the wilful destruction of so many mature trees and hedgerows from Clarendon Crescent.

Trafford Council planners and Sale Sports Club should be ashamed of themselves that they couldn't have found a way to preserve at least some of these old trees and hedgerows which have been felled to make way for the vast new housing development which is being built to fund the development of the sports facilities.

One wonders if this would have been allowed to happen after the Tory council had been toppled or whether the new alliance would have listened to local residents' concerns about the destruction of our environment.

I hope they will listen to local residents when the plans for the proposed development of the recreation field are submitted and prevent more loss of public amenity green space.
