WHILST agreeing with your drama critic Julia Taylor regarding the excellence of Maxine Peake's acting (Messenger, June 7) it should be pointed out that Samuel Beckett was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969, not 1978 as was stated.
The 1978 laureate was in fact Isaac Bashevis Singer.
