SO we had a Messenger report `Drive for cleaner air across towns` and also the council is encouraging more motorists into our towns with free parking after 3pm. If they were serious about air pollution they wouldn't be encouraging more traffic in rush hour.

I totally understand the need to support business but it would have been better if parking charges would have remained free from opening until 3pm.

As for clean air the council have not got a clue. Very little action within an AQMA since declaring in 2005, and if existing health conditions are being affected and children`s lungs stunted why are we having to wait until 2050 for Clean Energy in UK towns and cities.

Forty thousand-plus people die each year in the UK because of air pollution.
