I APPRECIATE that the 'Greater Trafford Marathon' is only once a year and people that participate often do so for good causes.
However, on walking over the 'fly-over' at Woodlands Road in Altrincham on the day after the marathon, there was copious amounts of litter strewn all over the pavements.
Highland water bottles everywhere, not sure if they were a sponsor, or SIS gel sachets, that provide energy, I believe.
I counted 86 SIS sachets just on the fly-over a distance of 100-150 yards.
It's very disappointing that a good cause can then leave such mess in its wake.
Runners, I'm sure, can hold on to a tiny sachet until there is the facility to dispose of these correctly.
Or volunteers with refuse sacks at the side of the road and let runners throw them in as they pass.
Let's face it, there were plenty of people supporting the runners.
Who will now clean up the mess???.......as Trafford Council is skint!
