SALE Sharks secured a five-try bonus-point win against Bristol on Sunday and captain Josh Beaumont was pleased with the side's performance.

The number eight played a key role in the win, where they managed to score five tries through Mike Haley, Paolo Odogwu, Eifion Lewis-Roberts, Tom Curry and new father Byron McGuigan.

Beaumont told the club's website: "It was a much-improved performance from us.

"We've got to be pleased coming away from home and getting five points including a try bonus. We can't complain.

"There were some good individual performances.

"I thought Sam James played well at 10 and Mike Haley was outstanding at full-back.

"Everyone worked hard to secure the win and it was good to get it as we look ahead to the Anglo-Welsh Cup."

Wasps are the visitors to the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night, kick off 8.15pm in that competition.

Beaumont added: "It'll be a good opportunity to rest a few players who've played all season and play some of the lads who haven't played much but are itching to play.

"Just look at Tom Curry – he's been brilliant over the last few weeks since getting his opportunity.

"You need plenty of competition for places around."

Meanwhile, it was announced on Saturday evening that Beaumont would join up with the England squad at their training camp in Portugal, and he said he is determined to take his chance.

The Sharks skipper said: "I'm really pleased to be involved in the England squad.

"This week has been an emotional rollercoaster but I've just got to make the most of this opportunity and grab the chance if I get it."
