Lancashire Cricket Club is aiming to attract another generation of supporters to the sport by way of an animation starring its mascot Lanky the Giraffe.

Lanky and Friends is a three-part series on subjects including the background of the Old Trafford-based cricket club and the rules of Twenty20 (T20).

Lancashire Cricket Club legend David Lloyd, who played more than 400 times for the side, and CBeebies presenter Ben Cajee provided some of the voices for the animation which was made in partnership with marketing agency MC2.

It comes as the men's team, Lancashire Lightning, and the women's team, Lancashire Thunder, start their T20 seasons in what is the 160th anniversary of the cricket club.

CEO Daniel Gidney said: "This is an important project for Lancashire Cricket, one focused on engaging the next generation of players, participants and fans of the sport.

"Lanky and Friends is a fun and engaging introduction to cricket with the aim of fostering lifelong connections between the club and children of all ages and backgrounds."

Lloyd, known as 'Bumble', said: "Lanky and Friends is a brilliant way to get kids to care about cricket.

"I am proud my county commissioned this brilliant animated series and to play a part in its production."

All the episodes of Lanky and Friends are available via the Lancashire Cricket Club website or via LancsTV on YouTube.
