An ex-Manchester United shot-stopper sparked speculation about his next move by training at Altrincham FC.

A post on social media by David De Gea on Friday (April 26) showed him training at the J Davidson Stadium.

The Spaniard spent 12 seasons at Manchester United, winning eight trophies with the club including its latest Premier League title, before his release last year left him unemployed for the latest season.

Although a move to Altrincham FC would be somewhat surprising, even if their National League play-off push is a success, he sparked speculation about his next move with the post on social media.

A cryptic caption said: "We remember. We rebuild. We come back stronger."

The video showed De Gea doing drills to a soundtrack of Back in Black by AC/DC. Amongst the video's viewers were ex-teammates Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire with the Portugal midfielder commenting three 'heart eyes' emojis and the England centre-back commenting a 'heart' emoji and a 'high-five' emoji.

It received thousands of comments and hundreds of thousands of 'likes'.
