This phenomenal photo shows the moment the late Sir Bobby Charlton stepped out onto a pitch at Timperley Sports Club one day in 1980.

The Messenger received it from Graham Place, from County Antrim, Northern Ireland, after Sir Bobby died at the age of 86 last weekend.

According to Mr Place, Sir Bobby was a part of a Manchester United and Manchester City All-Star XI including other legends like Colin Bell, Denis Law, Nobby Stiles and Mike Summerbee.

In his 40s at the time, Sir Bobby retired a number of years earlier from a career which saw him survive the Munich Air Disaster, a crash which claimed the lives of eight of his teammates, then which saw him win multiple First Division titles, an FA Cup, a European Cup and a World Cup.
