Trafford FC doubled their average attendance with the offer of free admission over the weekend.

The side welcomed Bootle FC from over in Bootle, Merseyside, to Shawe View on September 2.

Unfortunately, the visitors left with a 1-0 win, but Trafford FC doubled their average attendance with the offer of free admission. Over 1,000 supporters attended and made the most of the sunshine as the holidays came to a close.

A collection raised £180 for Trafford Veterans, an organisation which supports the borough's ex-servicemen and servicewomen.

Pete McGrath, a Trafford FC director said: "Today was a great advert for non-league football. Many of the people we spoke to never even knew of our existence, let alone came to a match.

"This was what we wanted to achieve. We were so proud to welcome so many newcomers to our loving community, as well as our guests from Bootle who, as ever, did their club great credit."
