Sale first XI made it five wins out of five in the Cheshire County League as they routed Romiley for just 79 on Saturday.

Sale won an important toss on a tricky surface at Romiley and soon had the home team in trouble as they slumped to 12-3 against the new-ball partnership of Dan Newton and Amlyn Layton.

David Badrock provided the only resistance with 33 at number four, however wickets continued to fall at the other end. Isaac Brooks, with two wickets, and two smart run-outs from George Walker took the score to 63-7.

Badrock was finally out on the same score to Tyrone Lawrence before Will Valentine mopped up the tail.

James Dodds top scored with 27 as Sale knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets inside 20 overs to remain top of Division One.

There was a much-improved performance at Dane Road from Sale seconds as they racked up 284-4 declared in 46 overs against Cheadle.

Joe Molloy carried his bat for 110, well supported by Muneeb Iftikar (85 from 49 balls), Jamie Coombes (29) and Omair Iqbal (25).

Molloy got full value for his match fees as he kept wicket for the 54 overs of Cheadle’s reply as they reached 212-4, Iftikar with a brace, including a smart catch in the deep from Iqbal.

The runs continued to flow on Sunday with two more centuries, thought to be a weekend club record.

Tom Jenkinson hit a magnificent 146 as Sale third XI posted 252-5 off 40 overs at home to Bramhall., Dattu Vadakutte with 41 in support.

Bramhall reached 161-4, Gareth Watterson with two wickets.

Sale’s third centurion of the weekend was Lawrence, who scored 132 at Toft in a Cheshire Cup run-fest. Sale posted 267 and still lost by 122 runs.

The fourths rounded off a good weekend for Sale with a 53-run win at Stockport. Tom Moakler (45) and Vaitheesh Subramanyam (33) helped Sale post 178-8, before bowling the hosts out for 125, Krish Gupta the leading bowler with 3-22.

Earlier in the week Sale Silverbacks had a good win at Toft. Ian Dixon, with 35 off 17 balls, helped Sale to 123-4 off 20 overs. The home side were then dismissed for 110.

On Saturday Sale firsts host Timperley at Dane Road and the seconds visit Chester, while on Sunday the third XI travel to Timperley and the fourths are at Macclesfield.
