Sale came out on top in their double header against Warrington in the Cheshire County League.

The Dane Road track produced its second century in as many weeks as veteran Mike Bishop led the seconds to victory while youngster James Dodds spun the firsts to victory at Walton Lea.

Bishop scored 107 – including 20 fours and a six – to guide the seconds to victory after Warrington were bowled out for 168 as Amlyn Layton picked up five wickets.

Over at Walton Lea, the firsts closed on 181-8 with Sam Hunt (63no) and Isaac Brooks (38) in the runs. Dodds then did the damage with the ball, the 15-year-old finishing on 4-25 as Warrington were bowled out for 100.

Ed Faulkner scored a superb 110 but it proved to be all in vain as Ashton on Mersey lost a high-scoring contest against Alvanley.

Batting first, Ashton scored 267 with Tom Anders falling just short of his half century while Zohaib Khan hit a rapid 25 off just seven balls.

In reply, Alvanley produced a great run chase with Chris Wright, who hit a patient unbeaten 64, guiding his side to victory in the final over.
