TYRONE Lawrence scored a brilliant unbeaten century as Sale rewrote the club record books on the opening day of the Cheshire County Cricket League.

Lawrence smashed 10 fours and five sixes in a 98-ball knock of 133 as Sale posted a home record score of 295-7 in the Division One clash with Macclesfield – while Lawrence’s total was the highest individual score by a Sale batsman at Dane Road.

Viraj Sorathia (41), Sam Battersby (25) and Isaac Brooks (27) also contributed to the hefty total.

In reply, Macclesfield closed on 240-5 – which also made it a record aggregate score at Sale – with Dan Newton (3-50) and James Dodds (2-69) the pick of the bowlers.

Sale 2nds enjoyed a six-wicket victory at neighbours Timperley.

The home side posted 202-8 – Grant Whittaker taking 4-80 – before Sale reached their total with 11 overs to spare, Mike Bishop (65) and Jamie Coombes (53) the main run makers.

Sale 3rds made it a winning weekend as they thrashed Ashley in the T20 Cup group stage. Dan Hyner took 3-24 as the home team could only post 80-8 in their 20 overs.

Sale openers Inshaf Deen (46 not out) and debutant Joe Molley (22 not out) saw Sale to their target in the 12th over.

In Division Two, spinner Ed Faulkner returned stunning figures of 8-51 to help Ashton on Mersey beat Lindow by three wickets. Lindow were dismissed for 140 and a knock of 60 by James Lines guided Ashton to victory.

Ashton’s 2nds lost to Urmston in a high-scoring match at The Beets. Ashton 222 all out (Henry Murray 69, Matt Rhind 52, Hasnain Sheikh 8-83), Urmston 226-6 (Devon Bahnemann 50, Tom Jenkinson 3-36).

Ashton 3rds were well beaten in their T20 game at Alderley Edge. Alderley Edge 150-2 (Calum Wilson 54), Ashton 73-9 (George Valentine 3-11).
