Trafford FC and its supporters' club have set up a Just Giving page to try and raise £5,000 to help save the club.

Like many non-league and community sports organisations, the Urmston-based outfit are struggling financially to survive due to the knock-on effects of coronavirus pandemic.

Income has dropped to zero and bills must still be paid with Trafford, formed in 1990, anxious to avoid its 30th anniversary year being its last.

The club and its supporters have been working together since the football season was abandoned on March 26.

They’ve raised money internally and now want to reach out to the local community, businesses and the greater football family for help.

Elsewhere, Trafford's supporters' club have set up a competition where fans can vote for the club's All Time XI.

In selecting the side, the club has initially canvassed a dozen key figures at Trafford FC – some of whom go all the way back to 1990.

These experts have put together a list of 34 players deemed worthy to go to the final vote amongst today's club officials and supporters.

Now the real competition starts – converting the final 34 down to just 11 – an XI that could take to the field in Trafford white and defeat all opposition from Blyth to Corby, from Colwyn Bay to Kings Lynn.

Voting has begun and is being done position by position, starting with the goalkeepers.
