A 30-YARD drive by substitute Curtis Miller paved the way for Trafford's 2-0 victory over an in-form Marine side.

After just six minutes a fine move by the hosts ended with Chris Palmer breaking clear but he hesitated and Marine hacked the ball to safety.

Seconds later visiting striker George Hassall burst through but Matty Cooper blocked bravely.

Hassall then saw a shot deflected behind before the same player headed against the crossbar.

Marine were now on top and in the 38th minute Steven Irwin blasted a drive inches over before Cooper produced another fine save to deny Joshua Solomon-Davies.

And seconds before half-time Cooper was called into action again when he tipped a Solomon-Davies effort over.

Trafford were a revelation in the second half and in the 55th minute Lewis Salmon brought a fine save from Daniel Atherton.

It wasn't until the 75th minute that the game-defining moment finally arrived though.

Having collected the ball midway inside the Marine half, Miller unleashed a stunning effort that flew past Atherton.

At the other end a stinging drive by James Barrigan was parried by Cooper but the points were sealed in the 80th minute when another slick move by Trafford ended with Max Hazeldine breaking clear and finishing coolly.

Trafford next visit City of Liverpool on Friday night.

Trafford are holding a Sportspersons Evening at Davyhulme Park Golf Club on Friday, March 13 with former Manchester United and Manchester City man Tony Whelan the guest speaker.
