RINGWAY Golf Club’s junior section held its prize presentation and dinner and once again it was a huge success with plenty to celebrate and cheer.

A wide range of awards were handed out with the juniors reflecting on both a successful 2019 and looking ahead to what is to come in 2020.

More than 60 juniors and their families enjoyed the social occasion and were joined by the club's president, chairman and both captains.

Junior organiser Isobel Parry said: “There were many great individual achievements to applaud but the evening was also spent celebrating the success of the junior team who had their best ever year in 2019.

“The team’s triumphs included winning the Manchester Alliance Williams BMW KO for the first time, topping the Gleneagles League in the Mid-Cheshire Junior League competition and winning the team prizes at the MCJL Open and the Joanne Morley Junior Golf Challenge held at Sale GC.

“Will Lord was announced as junior captain for 2020 and will take over from Harry Brioche at the end of January.

“The prestigious awards always announced as surprises at the end of the evening were the ‘Rising Star’ trophy (for the U12s) which went to Ellis Courtnell and the ‘Most Improved Junior’ trophy went to Milly Tighe and Amy Sarjantson – a joint award this year!

“Amy was also announced as the winner of the ‘Most Valuable Team Player’ – a trophy for which there’s been lots of competition at Ringway in 2019!

“We're very proud of all our junior members but it's wonderful to be able to say that it’s been a great year for our girls!"
