TRAFFORD Metro Borough Swimming Club (TMBSC) finished in third place at the Manchester and District team final in Bolton as success continues for its members.

There was also good news for member Ben Davidson, who has been selected to represent Cheshire at the 2019/20 Inter Counties championships.

Under the leadership of head coach, Craig Ward, Dan Walsh (Mini-Mets coach), the coaching team, chairman Bob Bolton and the committee, swimmers from the junior, senior and masters teams had a great 2018/19 season and this year is shaping up to be just as successful.

In 2018-19 Trafford Metro competed in the Cheshire County Championships, with a strong group of swimmers, winning several finals and medals.

The women's medley relay and free-style relay teams were 2019 champions.

In the North West Regional Championships, Megan Hughes regained gold in the sprint 50m front crawl and James Rollaston won breaststroke 50m and 100m events.

Both secured British and English national qualifications. Hughes was 11th fastest in GB for the 50m front crawl and Rollaston competed in the England Nationals 50m breaststroke final.

Meanwhile, Laura Head won bronze medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke Welsh Nationals.

The Trafford Master swimmers were top club at Cheshire Counties and North West Regional championships, while the Masters 4x200m team also broke the long course European record.

Last summer, Trafford Metro team took part in a swimming event to raise money for the Mind charity where 100 swimmers from different clubs swam 50m each and broke the Guinness World Record by more than three minutes.

TMBSC continued the good work as 228 swimmers swam for 24 hours and raised an incredible £4,000 for the Macmillan Cancer Fund.

Meanwhile, former member and Team GB Olympian, James Guy, is again running a swim camp at the end of December at Sale Leisure Centre.

Day one will be freestyle focus and day two will be butterfly and a professional sports nutritionist will also be attending on both days.
