ALTRINCHAM Golf Club continues to see a steady increase in members as they take their partnership with Trafford Leisure into its third year.

Not only do they continue to see new and returning members, but the club and its committee has also worked hard to continue the long tradition of Invitation Day.

Invitation days are largely seen by many golf clubs as an opportunity to promote memberships and bring in new members.

At Altrincham, the focus is on providing a fun, social environment for the day, combined with Trafford Leisure’s Top Tracer Range, full practice facility and great prizes.

This was never more evident than at their most recent invitation day when 64 golfers teed off in the hope of bagging some great prizes, including meals in local restaurants, shoes, bags, balls, holidays and the top prize for the third hole, 178-yard, par three of a Volkswagen Polo.

The eventual winners of the competition amassing 46 points, but the club were also pleased congratulate one of their 32 visitors, Denzil Francis, who travelled from London to join in.

He managed an incredible combination in his opening holes, shooting eight and seven followed by a hole-in-one on the third hole to win the car.

Francis is a 13-handicapper recently playing his golf as part of a new society ‘Manchester Tigers’ so this was only his second visit to the course.

Members and guests continued to honour the traditions as they were treated to a round of drinks in the Old Hall,Timperley after play.
