MEMBERS at Ringway Golf Club raised almost £3,000 for The Christie at a charity day in memory of former club player Paul Keefe.

Keefe was a much-loved and popular member of Ringway and enjoyed many trips over the years to top golfing venues with his friends.

He died a few years ago but left a legacy for his friends at his beloved club to fund a golfing holiday which was much appreciated.

Last year his wife, Claire, and his family decided to run a charity golf day at Ringway in his memory to raise funds for The Christie and repeated this again in 2019.

There was a great response with 40 players in the competition and another 45 attending the barbecue after the golf on a sunny day.

Claire was delighted with the response and with the amount of £2,810 raised on the day to support The Christie.

The competition winner was Ian Rankin with 40 points, one more than Nick Buckley, and there were plenty of prizes on the day.

Claire said: “It was an amazing day and I’d like to thank all the helpers and also Peter Fitzpatrick who organised the golf.

“The third annual Paul Keefe Celebration Golf Day will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Ringway Golf Club.”
