IN the team round-robin competition in the Altrincham and Sale Round the Board Darts League, Jolly Butcher extended their lead in Group A with a magnificent display of darts, beating the Navigation 9½-½.

It means with two weeks of matches left, Butcher are in a strong position to take top spot.

The Carters Arms had a bye but they are the only team who can now catch the group leaders.

They play Central A next, while Butcher have a bye so the Carters match will be crucial to them if they have any chance of taking top spot.

Central A had a 10-0 walkover against Railway Hale to claim their first points in Group A.

In Group B, Cringlewood extended their lead at the top by beating a tenacious Central B side 7-3 after most games went down to the wire.

Budenburgs had a bye, while the match of the week was the Timperley Cons against British Rail clash.

In the first half, Cons were on their usual form and won 4-1, but the Rail came back fighting and in a hard-fought battle, they took the second half 3-2 and a share of the points on the night.

Cringlewood lead Group B with eight points, while the Rail and Cons both have six points.

There are two weeks of matches to go so the lead could easily change between the top three teams.

The two group winners will face each other on finals night on September 23 at the Central Club.
