TRAFFORD MV's pre-season preparations are set to begin with the club putting a call out to any new players interested in joining.

New captain Pat Eccles has been busy rallying his current squad but has also put the invitation out to new players looking to justify their ambitions with a tilt at first XV rugby with a well-established club with excellent facilities playing in the ADM Lancashire Premier League.

Fitness will be the first port of call but it will not be long before match fitness is on the cards as MV are set to confirm pre-season fixtures with Eccles and Leigh initially.

The club are also looking to strengthen the depth of their coaching team which will be announced shortly.

MV have also bolstered their off-field team with the appointment of Alex Wood as rugby chairman.

He is looking to promote MV's policy of a 'one-club' approach with all three senior sides and the min/junior section working hard together to share coaching skills while working and supporting one another.

MV are keen to hear from any local rugby players who are looking to progress their playing career, whether it is as a keen, ambitious first XV player or as an occasional social player for the third XV or somewhere in between. Players of all levels can contact Greg Hawkins on 07834 857905 to express an interest or just turn up at the club for training on Tuesday or Thursday evenings at 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, the club will be hosting a charity fun day on Saturday, July 27 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, the highlight of which will be a fancy dress rugby match.
