JEANNE Bell has been one of the top team players in Cheshire ladies' golf for many years and now she is looking forward to being the Cheshire County Ladies' Golf Association captain in 2019

Bell is a member of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club and enjoyed her early years of golf in the south of England.

She said: “I have been involved with county golf since playing for Kent as a junior.

“I had two years in the Kent first team in 1979 and 1980 before I qualified.

“I then moved to Suffolk to do my GP training and I played for Suffolk for three years between 1982 and 1985.

“I was Suffolk ladies' champion in 1984 and 1985 and I then moved to Scotland and had one season playing for Fife.

“Since moving to Cheshire in 1987 I have been involved with county golf here, playing in the team from 1988 to 1995 and then again in 2008 and 2014-2016.

“My hope for my role this year is to take the County Association forward while respecting its history and traditions. I am looking forward to the challenge.

“I would like to thank Sybra Eardley and Judith Wainwright (Ringway Golf Club president) for a very enjoyable year as vice captain before taking on my new role.

"There are plenty of competitions available for members of the Cheshire CLGA to enter in the coming season and details are on the website at www.cheshireladiesgolf.org.”
