MANCHESTER Storm had a maximum-point winning weekend with victories at Nottingham (3-0) and at home to Fife Flyers (7-4).
Beating big-spending Nottingham in their own arena was a great start to the weekend and in doing so Storm recorded a double over the Panthers, having beaten them the previous weekend in Altrincham.
Ciaran Long (two) and Dallas Ehrhardt scored the important goals for Storm but their man of the match was netminder Matt Ginn who saved 30 Panthers shots in an incredible performance.
Against Fife Flyers, Storm gave away an early goal with two players sat in the penalty box.
But they recovered to put in one of their best shifts of the season.
Goals from Ehrhardt (two), Chris Auger (two), Dane Byers, Rob Linsmayer and Felix-Antoine Poulin secured the win for Storm which delighted head coach Ryan Finnerty.
He said: “We are in a good place right now, we are scoring goals from anywhere and everywhere at the moment and the team are all working hard for one another.”
The double-point win moved Storm above Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Hockey League table.
