ALTRINCHAM Kersal first XV played host to Leigh in the final Lancs/Cheshire Division One game of 2018 and won convincingly 60-0.

On a very cold, wet and windy day, Kersal took an early lead with a try following some immense work by the pack.

This was followed soon after with a further try to make the score 10-0.

Leigh replied with a penalty only to concede a further try, making the score 17-3 to the hosts.

A further Leigh penalty was soon followed by another try for the home team making the score 22-6 at half time.

The second half was all Altrincham Kersal's with six tries being scored and no points conceded.

The forwards dominated the scrums and lineouts and there was an impressive display of hard, solid defence as well as superb commitment at the breakdown to clear out the opposition.

It was not just a forwards day as, throughout the match and despite the weather, the backs created some great moves and opportunities that led to some impressive tries.

The game ended with a big win for Kersal, giving them a further bonus point win and a 10-try haul as they stay at the top of the table for Christmas.
