THE Hancock Trophy has been played for by Mixed Pairs in the Manchester Alliance for many years at the fine venue of Sale Golf Club and it was another successful event this year.

Ollie Whiteley (Bramall Park) enjoyed a good day as he won the individual pro prize with 38 points ahead of Mark Smith (Stamford) on 35 and Andy Green (Dunscar), Tom Clancy (Cheadle) and Liam Burgess (Bramall Park) all on 30.

Whiteley also partnered Michelle Pretty to top spot in the pro-am section with 40 points ahead of Mark Smith and Jo Akers (Stamford) on 39 and Tim and Suzy Maxwell (Knutsford) on 37.

The score of 40 points was matched in the am-am section by Reddish Vale manager Dave Sanders and Julia Ann Addinall ahead of Denis and Sam Durnian (Chorley), who won a card play-off on 37 points from Swinton Park’s Jimmy O’Reilly and Fran Jewkes.

The destiny of the Hancock Trophy saw a card play-off go in favour of the Reddish Vale duo who were able to take the trophy back to their club for the first time in more than 40 years.
