ALTRINCHAM enjoyed progress past the FA Trophy third qualifying round with a thumping 4-0 home win against National League North leaders Bradford (Park Avenue) on Saturday.

For the second weekend in succession a Yorkshire team was comprehensively beaten by Alty at the J. Davidson Stadium.

Following a 3-0 league win against York City last weekend, the latest victims were Bradford (Park Avenue) – the Robins have now beaten them three times this season, having won in the league, FA Cup and now the FA Trophy.

After starting brightly, Altrincham earned a 13th-minute penalty when Jordan Hulme went down in the box as he jinked towards goal and John Johnston converted the spot-kick comfortably.

Top scorer Hulme netted the second goal himself in the 36th minute when a fine pass from Johnston set right-back Andy White running into the box.

White's low cross from the right was relayed by Josh Hancock to Hulme, who netted from six yards.

The pick of Altrincham's goals was their third in the 54th minute at the end of a move which comprised of two-dozen passes.

It culminated in Johnston's run towards goal and Hancock's neat finish.

After making substitutions, and with Altrincham taking their foot of the accelerator, Bradford enjoyed a brief spell of pressure. But Jake Beesley and then Alex Hurst wasted two good chances to get their side on the scoresheet.

Alty rallied and sealed a comfortable win with their fourth goal, netted from close range, at the second attempt, by debutant Kallum Mantack in the 78th minute.

The closing stages saw the demoralised visitors picking up yellow cards, to bring their total to five, as Altrincham cruised into the next round.

Next up is a long trip to Brackley Town in the league on Saturday.

ALTRINCHAM: Thompson, White, Hampson, Jones, Hannigan, Moult, Johnston, Richman, Hulme, Hancock, Dale. Subs: Mantack, Harrop, Langley, Densmore, Wynne.
