SWINTON Lions continue to strengthen their pack with the signing of Adam Jones from Oldham RLFC on a one-year deal.

Head coach Stuart Littler has worked with the board to build his side, who play home games at Heywood Road in Sale, for the 2019 Championship season, including forwards Frankie Halton (Leigh Miners), Jose Kenga (Keighley Cougars), Billy Brickhill, Lewis Hatton (Rochdale Hornets) and most recently the marquee-signing of Super League forward Gavin Bennion.

The Lions have also re-signed forwards Ben Austin, Paddy Jones, Chris Worrall and hooker Luke Waterworth.

Latest arrival Jones had previously made 19 appearances for the Lions in 2017 before joining The Roughyeds ahead of the 2018 League One season.

The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Salford after playing at amateur sides Chorley Panthers, Wigan St Pat’s and Wigan St Jude’s.

Littler continues to add power to his pack, and Jones is a player he is looking forward to working with again.

“I am delighted to see Adam agree to re-join the team,” Littler said.

“Adam is a player who I never wanted to lose as I feel he can be a real strike weapon on an edge.

"He is tenacious in defence and the opposition will know about it when he hits them.

"Our pack is really developing and beginning to look quite formidable.

“Again, there was a lot of competition for Adam's signature, so I am delighted to finally have this over the line."

Jones said: “I’ve had offers from a number of other clubs, but I enjoyed my time at Swinton and I’m impressed with the future plans Stuart and Andy [Mazey] have for the club.

“I’m now really looking forward to getting stuck into training and doing my best for the club and fans.

"I’m really looking forward to working with Stuart again, and can’t wait for the season to start so I can begin helping the team have what promises to be a great season.”
