MARK Kirk was a delighted winner of the Davyhulme Park’s President's competition with a fine 36-hole aggregate score of 134 shots.

It was a tense finish with Luke Connor in the same final group chasing him to the post with a finishing score of 136.

Joe Mann had posted the clubhouse lead early in the day with a 65 nett for a 136 total which resulted in a tied second position.

President John Schofield hosted a breakfast to kick off proceedings which was followed by an evening function with entertainment.

The next day the players went out in score order with the lowest scores from Saturday being the last to tee off.

A special mention went to the Connor family who made up half of the penultimate and final groups.

Club professional Martyn Hamer thanked all the members who helped make the weekend a success for the president as they volunteered to be starters, serve refreshments at the halfway point and there was also a live scoreboard from the handicaps section.

Thanks also went to the ladies' section for providing the flower arrangements for the weekend.
