SALE FC recorded another victory in National League One with a 42-38 triumph against Old Elthamians.

From the kick off, Sale attacked and maintained control with Paolo Odogwu powering over the line for an early try converted from the touchline by Kieran Wilkinson.

With Sale on the front foot, hooker Christian Taylor broke clear of a ruck and, despite two attempted tackles, went over under the posts on 14 minutes.

A Sale scrum resulted in a free kick to the visitors who chose to reset and drove into Sale territory.

A series of mauls led to a penalty near the Sale line, which was quickly taken before visiting fly-half Tom White went over in the 18th minute then converted.

Directly from the restart Old Elthamians flanker George Messum latched onto the ball with space to run into, found winger Ben Howard and he sped clear touching down on 19 minutes.

Another quickly-taken penalty saw the ball go to second-row Self who scored in the 25th minute.

After an injury delay as an ambulance arrived for Rawcliffe after he was hurt in a tackle, the vgisitors continued to have the better of the exchanges and Sale conceded a penalty for offside on 36 minutes.

The kick was taken quickly, Hamish Barton scoring a try converted by White.

In the second half, substitute Neil Briggs injected pace and power into the attack and Sale's good handling and direct running forced errors.

On 50 minutes, their pressure was rewarded when, following a solid scrum and quick pass by Matt Sturgess, winger Odogwu raced clear, beating his opposite number to score before Johnson converted.

It was backwards and forwards for the next half hour until the last 10 minutes with Old Elthamians have a slender lead of 38-35.

With five minutes left, Sale counter attacked and a line-out was won deep in the visitors' territory.

It gave Sale another attacking platform that ended with Moorhouse scoring in the corner on 76 minutes before a superb conversion by Wilkinson.
