ALTRINCHAM advanced to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 4-2 home win against a Bradford Park Avenue team they had also recently beaten, away from home, in the league.

The Robins dominated the opening stages but failed to translate their dominance into a goal.

Instead, having got into the game, it was the Yorkshiremen who went ahead on the half-hour mark.

Making his 300th Altrincham appearance, Alty captain Jake Moult tripped Jake Beesley and the visitors' striker got up to beat goalkeeper Tony Thompson from the penalty spot.

But, just three minutes later, it was 1-1 as left-back Connor Hampson marauded up the left and fed Jordan Hulme.

Despite being fouled, the Alty striker got the ball across the goalmouth to where Hampson had advanced to score.

However, Bradford again took the lead in the 38th minute. Altrincham had all 11 men back in their penalty area to defend a corner yet, somehow, they left centre-back Shane Killock completely unmarked and the visiting skipper slid the ball past Thompson with ease.

Then, just before the interval, Moult made amends for his earlier error with a shot from outside the box which took a deflection to beat keeper Steven Drench and level the score at 2-2 at the break.

Soon after the hour mark Altrincham finally took the lead when centre-back James Jones emulated his opposite number, Killock, by scoring with a low effort from a corner.

The score became 4-2 in the 82nd minute when Hulme battled past a challenge before planting the ball past Drench.

Altrincham managed the closing stages well to secure the £15,000 prize money and a tie at Stockport County in the next round.
