TRAFFORD Handball Club – the newly-opened club delivering handball coaching to youngsters across South Manchester – has begun its first official season.

After a summer of preparations, tester sessions and trials, the club started its official training schedule last week.

Due to the high demand for handball in Trafford, the club has successfully registered four teams (under-14 and u16 boys and girls) to the England Handball Association (EHA) where they will compete against other teams in the EHA North League.

Chairman Stan Belinski has been impressed by the high quality of local players and the growth of the sport in Trafford.

He said: "We were delighted to see such high demand from teachers, students and parents in delivering handball coaching in and outside of schools, since the sport has been included in the PE curriculum.

"Our aim is to create opportunities for kids to play handball locally and attract them to join our after-school clubs for more training.”

Trafford Handball Club’s sessions are taking place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, between 5pm and 7pm at Sale High School, where all students aged 12-16 are more than welcome to join and give handball a try.
