CRINGLEWOOD won the battle for runners-up spot in the Altrincham and Sale Round the Board Summer Darts League after a victory over Timperley Cons in the final round of matches.

With Jolly Butcher already confirmed as champions in their debut season, second-placed Cringlewood and third-placed Timperley Cons clashed to decide who would be second.

Cons started off well, opening up a 3-2 lead, but then Cringlewood bounced back taking all the remaining legs to leave last season's title winners Cons in third.

Broadheath Central took on the Budenburgs A team in what turned out to be a tight match with excellent darts from players like Chris White, Steve Holt, Dennis Hand, Johnny Theirens and Geoff Talbot of Central as well as Graham Mathers, Kevin Legg, Will Morris, Andy Hopkinson and Stan Johnson from the Budenburgs.

The match ended with a 6-4 win for Central as they ended the season in fourth place.

British Rail finished on a high with a 9-1 victory against the Station to finish fifth, while Budenburgs B played some brilliant darts to beat the Central 7-3.

The winter league begins in October and new teams and players from the Sale and Altrincham area are welcome.
