TRAFFORD produced a scintillating second-half performance to demolish Evo-Stik Premier outfit Scarborough 3-0 in their pre-season friendly at Shawe View last Saturday.

Defences were on top in a first half of little goalmouth action, the only efforts on goal being a header straight at goalkeeper Tom Taylor by Trafford midfielder Ross Davidson and a free kick by Boro’s Michael Coulson that struck the post.

However, the game burst into life just four minutes after the interval when Declan Rydings dispossessed Bailey Gooda and fed Aaron Burns who blasted a great drive from 20 yards into the bottom corner.

Ally Brown made it two in the 65th minute when he cracked a superb shot past Taylor from 25 yards and four minutes later a brilliant move ended with Burns slicing through the Boro defence and coolly placing the ball past the advancing keeper.

Trafford manager Tom Baker made a raft of substitutions in the final 20 minutes and Mark Derbyshire twice went close to increasing the lead when he struck the near post from an acute angle and saw Taylor block his shot from point-blank range.

Baker’s side lost 3-0 at Farsley Celtic on Tuesday and complete their preparations for the new season at Shawe View on Saturday against Warrington Town.
