JORDAN Hulme has given Evo-Stik Premier champions Altrincham a major boost by confirming he will remain at the club next season and vowing to hit the ground running in the National League North.

The 27-year old frontrunner looked certain to spearhead another National League North title tilt with Salford 12 months ago until an apparent change of heart by the Ammies alerted Alty boss Phil Parkinson to his unexpected availability.

A 31-goal return on his debut season at The J.Davidson Stadium underlined his worth, though he had to overcome an initial sense of dismay at not being part of Salford’s transition to full-time status.

"There was some disappointment I had to get over to begin with," he said.

"But it kind of made me get the bit between my teeth to go and prove everyone wrong.

"I had to prove a point to those who said I wasn’t good enough, and I’m going to take that into the next level next season.

"They said they couldn’t win the league with me up top, so I’m aiming to prove them wrong.

"I’ve still got a lot to prove. Hopefully, I’ve already started doing that, and now I’ve signed for another year, I’ll continue doing it. I will be a motivated player from the off next season."

Hulme paid tribute to the team spirit engendered by Parkinson, saying: "It has been a great season for me, but much as I have taken the accolades, it’s all about the team.

"They have been outstanding and have put all my goals on a plate for me.

"I’m thankful to them and to the gaffer for putting such a good team together.

"They really are a top set of lads, probably the best I’ve ever been involved with.

"Winning helps, but they are a great bunch – all idiots in their own way, but I love them all. Honestly, there are no bad eggs in there.

"The gaffer has been great as well. He gives you confidence to go out and play, and he has built an unbelievable team which we will now take into next season."
