A GOOD performance on Sunday saw Urmston book their place in the next round of the Cheshire Cup to face Premier Division side Cheadle.
Urmston bowled well with veteran Craig Wilson taking 3-18 off his nine overs.
Calum Turner, Callum Parkinson and Matthew Parkinson took two wickets apiece as Alvanley were all out for 145.
Calum Parkinson (43) and overseas Joey O'Connor (34 no) ensured a comfortable Urmston five wicket win with five overs to spare.
But it was not the best weekend for the club as they lost by four wickets on the road in the Vivio Cheshire League Division One clash with Cheadle Hulme.
Urmston lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp green wicket.
A steady start was made before Calum Turner was out for 13.
Wickets unfortunately fell at regular intervals.
Only Brad Yates (52) and an excellent ninth wicket partnership of 40 by Waz Ahmed (22) and Kris Scott (19) enabled Urmston to post a below par score of 127.
Wicket-keeper Yates scored 114 last week in the winning draw against Middlewich.
Cheadle started like an express with their opening bat Iftikar hitting 60 off only around 20 balls including 29 off one over.
However, Urmston stuck to the task and managed to take six wickets for the next 60 runs before mid-tableCheadle Hulme limped over the line.
