NAVIGATION Bay FC netted their third trophy of the season with a 6-3 win over league rivals Timperley Big Shorts in the League Challenge Cup final, held at Altrincham FC’s Moss Lane ground on May 13.
Played in front of a crowd of more than 100 people, the final game of the season saw the Altrincham and District Sunday league team become only the third team to win all three competitions in the same season.
Having previously picked up the league title after winning the league 15 points clear of rivals at the end of April, the Broadheath side also lifted the Altrincham and District Cup, after beating Lisbon Old Boys, 1-0.
Rick Huckle, from the league, paid tribute to the success of the team: “Entering our record books is no mean feat as it was a few years back that the last team managed to clinch all three titles.
“Navigation Bay FC must be extremely proud of their achievements this year, they’ve certainly been the team everyone’s wanted to beat and only one team has managed to do that all season – a remarkable achievement. Well done to everyone at the club.”
The achievement hasn’t gone unnoticed among the footballing community as Chris Adams, manager of Navigation Bay and former Altrincham FC player, has recently been appointed to Knutsford FC.
