A SALE schoolboy is looking for sponsors to help him finish a degree course.

IT whizz kid Ruby Nealon is just 11 but has already completed the first module of a degree in computer science.

The St Ann's Primary School pupil, who signed up to the degree course himself, is believed to be the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in the UK and is hoping to take another set of Microsoft exams which will make him the youngest in the world.

But to Ruby's parents Zoe and Gary, he is just a normal boy who is passionate about computers.

Gary, who runs a computer repair company in Sale, said: "I speak to him as a kid and he's just a normal kid but I speak to him about computers and it's like he's about 30. He is unusually adept at IT."

Ruby got his first laptop aged three and was taught how to use it by Gary.

But in recent years he has taught himself, booked himself onto training courses and applied to sit exams.

He has even paid for the courses himself, working as an online freelancer getting paid to help people who are having technical issues with their websites.

After signing up for an Open University degree course, Ruby paid the £190 for the first module but he needs to save another £800 to take the second.

Mum Zoe said she was 'very proud' of Ruby and wanted him to succeed but they couldn't afford the degree costs.

She is hoping an IT company will sponsor Ruby to take more modules so he can complete his degree.

He is also looking for an internship over the summer before he starts secondary school at Sale Grammar in September.
