THERE was a mixture of praise and criticism for Trafford Council this week as some potholes in Sale were filled.

Chris Lomax, on Cherry Lane in Sale, was pleased when the potholes on his road were repaired last week.

He congratulated the council for sending workmen to fill the holes and said he had been told it was a temporary job and the road would be resurfaced later in the year.

But Michael Hammer, from Bow Lane in Bowdon, said he was unhappy with the repair work on Bow Lane and Bow Green Road and wanted it to be fixed properly.

“Trafford council have inadequately and incompletely patched these two roads in a piecemeal fashion such that we still have to negotiate the potholes which makes motoring unnecessarily more dangerous,” he said.

A spokesperson for Trafford Council said the potholes on Bow Lane had been fixed and assured residents that council teams were working very hard to tackle potholes in Trafford.

“A quarter of the Borough’s road network - that’s 110 miles - has been resurfaced in the past three years,” she said.

One road that is going to have its potholes targeted this week is the Carrington Spur Road in Sale.

The road will be closed from the junction with the M60 motorway to the junction with Carrington Lane, between 5am and 6pm on Saturday April 10 while the potholes are filled and other maintenance jobs are carried out.

An alternative route is available along Carrington Lane, Harboro Road, Harboro Way, the A56 Washway Road and vice versa.

A council spokesperson asked people to report highway defected online at www.trafford.gov.uk or by calling 01619122000.
