STAFF were terrified when a gang of armed men made violent threats and stole cigarettes and cash from a Sale shop.

At about 8.25pm on Friday (July 17), three men, one armed with a knife, went into Threshers Off Licence, on Marsland Road.

The men forced two staff members into the stock area and demanded money.

A large sack was filled with cigarettes and a cash box was stolen.

The offenders ran out and drove off in a car, thought to be a black Audi A3, towards Sale Moor.

The men all wore dark clothing. The man with the knife was described as 5ft 9ins tall, white, of a slim build and he had a local accent. He was wearing a black balaclava, black jumper and beige-coloured trousers.

Detective Constable Steve Matthias, of Trafford CID, said: "This is a horrible offence, these men threatened violence against people who were simply trying to do their job.

"The staff were not injured but were left incredibly shaken by their horrendous ordeal.

"If anyone saw the men going into or out of the shop, or saw the car they used in the crime then please get in touch.

"Your information could help me get these dangerous men off the streets."

Anyone with information should call DC Matthias on 0161 856 8314 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
