A PET rabbit was dumped in a cardboard crisp box outside a Sale pub.
Staff at Jackson’s Boat in Sale found the long eared rabbit last week and took him to the Society for Abandoned Animals.
The rabbit - christened McCoy after the crisp box he was found - was found to be suffering with a nasty abscess which staff believe was probably why he was dumped.
Sale Moor’s Southfield Vets treated McCoy for free earlier this week, and said he should make a full recovery despite his ordeal.
But vet, Claire Nicholls, said: “We’re always pleased to help the Society out because they do fantastic work, but we’d urge people not to just abandon animals as you never know what might happen to them. McCoy was one of the lucky ones.”
