AN eco-friendly councillor is leading by example after urging everyone to reduce the amount of pollution they cause.
Cllr Neil Taylor still has a car for his children and getting the weekly shopping, but has opted in favour of a Zippe scooter for commuting to meetings, community forums and councillor surgeries.
The scooter runs completely on electricity, meaning it doesn’t emit any harmful emissions into the atmosphere and is cheap to run.
Cllr Taylor, of Timperley ward, said: “Lowering our carbon footprint is extremely important and my electric scooter helps me to do my bit. I simply have to plug it in to any normal socket to charge it and away I go. I don’t have to pay any road tax either so it’s a real money saver.”
Trafford Council set up a sustainability committee last year. The committee works to ensure the council considers the impact of services and policies on climate change and the environment as well as raising awareness of what people can do to minimise their carbon footprint.
