Pop-up shops are bringing art, fashion, and botany to the town centre.

The Square in Sale has offered three large units to independent shops, currently filled by Denim & Art, Plant Shop Manchester and StudioDBD.

Units have been stripped to offer blank creative spaces for the retailers.

The stores will be there until the end of the year, but the owners of The Square, Maloneview Limited, have said new businesses will taking their place.

Michael Brown from the company said: “Pop-up shops bring fresh ideas and attract new customers, complimenting and supporting existing tenants.

"They also provide an opportunity for independent businesses to grow and try new things. The new spaces are creating a buzz in The Square, we look forward to welcoming more pop-ups in the New Year.”

Denim & Art is run by artist Emma Evans and fashion designer Amanda Barnes.

The duo are using their shop to engage with the community, hosting free monthly creative coffee mornings and art workshops alongside selling their art and clothing.

Emma said: “Amanda and I have been talking about collaborating for a long time, so when this opportunity came up, we knew that it was the right time to get out of our studios.

"We've been in The Square for three months and the response has been overwhelming.”

People of Sale are also getting a taste of Stockport store, Plant Shop Manchester.

Owner Emma Nosurak is using the larger space to make a 'green concept store', offering expert advice, specially designed zones, and eco products.

Customers can buy a wide range of plants and even get refills on environmentally friendly laundry products for people looking to reduce their plastic use.

The third store, StudioDBD, is run by designer Dave Sedgwick, who turned the space into an art gallery to showcase work by himself and other artists like Helen Musselwhite, Anthony Burrill, and Stanley Chow.
