FRIENDS of Stretford Public Hall will host a Christmas Festival for local residents.

This weekend, the group will be holding a variety of seasonal events and activities starting on Friday with a Christmas lights switch-on at 6:30pm, accompanied by a performance of Christmas-themed songs by the Boys Brigade.

This will be followed with a Sing-a-long Christmas concert inside the Hall at 7pm.

Tickets for this event have sold out but there is a waiting list, in case tickets become available.

Saturday December 9 will see a Christmas Fair at the Hall with Christmas choirs, live music, a cake stall, mulled wine and activities such as children’s crafts, face painting, a tombola and a raffle, and children will be able to see Santa in his grotto.

The fair starts at 12 noon and runs until 4pm. Entrance is free.

Finally on Sunday December 10, the hall will run it’s last community cinema screening of the year with ‘Up on the Wooftop’ - a family film about Santa’s dog, Toby, who is trying to find his way back to the North Pole.

The film starts at 1.30pm and costs £2.50 per adult, £1.50 per child or £6 for a family ticket which includes two adults and two children.

Annoushka Deighton, Chair of the Board for Stretford Public Hall, said: “We’re sending out a warm invitation to local people to come and join us at our wonderful hall for this special Christmas-themed weekend. There’s something to appeal to everyone and we look forward to welcoming you all.”
